    Do you know what your and your company’s core values, goals and priorities are? If someone asks you to tell them what is your job, do you have a good answer? One of the most important steps to becoming truly effective in the workplace is to be confident about your purpose at work.

    After all, if you don’t know what the end result of your work is, surely you can’t prioritize properly? If you don’t prioritize, you can find yourself overwhelmed and under a mountain of work, unable to tell the difference between what’s important and what’s not. To determine the true purpose of your work, think about it, create it. This will help you discover your most important purpose so you can start prioritizing and completing tasks efficiently. To do a great job, you need to fully understand what is expected of you.

    Create a growth plan

    At the very beginning of the year or when accepting a new employee in your team, it is worth creating an employee growth plan. It is important to find out in which direction he wants to improve find ways to support his progress. It can also be something as simple as reading three books in a year, taking a course, or shadowing a colleague in another department.

    It is highly recommended to set a 30-60-90 productive day plan to help employees with professional development goals. Encourage everyone to define their shorter-term goals and share the results. Agree on a certain day to hold a meeting and discuss what has been achieved and evaluate the progress.

    Have a good attitude

    Effective employees have a good attitude. But what does that mean? People with a good attitude will always take the initiative whenever they can. They are happy to help colleagues when needed; they take responsibility when someone is ill and ensures their work is carried out to the highest standards. Even “good enough” is never good enough for the most diligent employees, they are the people who go above and beyond for the work they do.

    Having a good attitude at work will do more than earn you respect and dignity: setting standards for your work and your behavior means you take responsibility for yourself. This amazing trait is hard to find in many organizations. But demonstrating ethical decision-making and integrity can open many doors in your future. So, focus on adopting a good attitude in your workplace and make decisions intuitively that are beneficial for everyone.

    Create a culture of learning

    Any kind of development is the result of learning. To effectively support continuous personal growth, create and reinforce a company learning culture. If a strong learning culture is embedded in the company’s core values, employees will see the importance of continuous growth and be more motivated. There are various mechanisms, tools and approaches that an organization can use to encourage employees to learn, but implementing a learning culture is one place to start.

    In order to learn new skills productively, it is important to understand the type of learning that works best for you. It will be different for everyone – it is easier for one person to learn new things by reading, for another – by listening, for other – by doing things practically. Cooperation is also an opportunity to consciously learn from each other, to reduce the time required for work and find creative solutions for problems  together.
