A Day In The Life Of A Productive Professional

A day in the life of a productive professional

Being productive isn’t something you can switch on or off. Being productive is a habit. Just like your morning coffee and cornflakes, being productive is a part of you that has become second nature. If you find it difficult to be productive, however, it can be difficult to make it second nature. See, being productive is not as easy as taking a shower or making your morning breakfast. No matter what you are trying to do, whether you’re trying to focus on an e-commerce website you’re running or managing your work as an employee, it takes a lot of time to master productivity and tune it into your own airwaves.

A good way to understand how to do this is to look at the people who have used their productivity to turn themselves into a well-respected, successful professional. We all know that it takes a lot of work to become successful – it doesn’t just land on your lap as much as we wish it would! Every professional will have their own techniques to remain productive, and they have found ways to instil those techniques into their lives until they simply become habits. With this in mind, we’re going to give you an example of a productive professional’s “day in the life” with a step-by-step guide that will take you from their morning cornflakes all the way to their late-night wind-downs!

05:00 AM To 06:00 AM

There are four things every professional will adhere to and prioritize. Physical health, workload optimization, a productive environment, and the right tools to ensure efficiency. Everything they do in a single day, then, will have to fall under one of these categories – and this starts as soon as they wake up. According to recent research, waking up early – around 05:00 AM to 06:00 AM – helps you to get organized, think strategically, and feel creatively inspired, and this is something every professional will make sure to do on a working day.

06:00 AM To 12:00 PM

When the sun starts to rise, one of the first things a professional will do is set out their most important tasks. Having too many things on your plate can end up making you confused and actually end up harming your own productivity. Even the most prominent business owners need to take it easy and focus on one thing. Once this objective is recognized, a typical professional will split it into small goals. This helps the mind to focus further and experience satisfaction at the small victories of a big job. This then leads to a more positive outlook on the work being achieved.

12:00 PM To 13:00 PM

While many people believe that successful professionals work flat out from dawn until dusk, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Not only will most successful professionals ensure to have mini five-minute breaks during the day, but they will also stop for lunch for an hour along with all of their other employees. Taking a lunch hour is not only healthy, but it provides a reset both for the mind and the body. According to a recent study, 64% of people report feeling more energetic after a lunch break, with 51% recognizing an increased focus and higher productivity.

13:00 PM To 16:00 PM

These three hours after lunch are very important, with some professionals calling it the “deep work” section of the day. This is where you really cultivate your agenda and plough forward with no distractions. Looking back at the four key ingredients to the “productivity formula”, this is where you need the right tools for work. For instance, our Luxafor Flag offers an innovative way to show colleagues your availability and ensure that you only receive the important notifications. This is just one solution to distractions during your “deep work” period, but there are many more, so it’s important that you update your productivity toolkit and always keep it at hand!

16:00 PM To 17:00 PM

The hour between 16:00 PM to 17:00 PM is similarly important but for very different reasons. This is the hour when you step back from your daily objectives and focus on yourself tomorrow. Go through your emails and begin clearing the inbox. If there are little tasks to complete, do them in this hour, but if there are tasks that will last a little longer, add them to your agenda. Once this is done, look through your agenda and begin to work out the different objectives. What is connected? What is most important? What can be delayed? Similarly, work out if it is a job for you or would be better suited to another team member. This will then help you the following morning when you work out your most important tasks for the day.

17:00 PM To 22:00 PM

Lastly, every professional needs time to wind down and relax. This differs depending on the person, but some of the most popular evening practices include:

  • An Hour In The Gym
  • A Small Jog
  • Meditation
  • Yoga
  • Reading
  • Game Playing
  • Cooking

The list goes on, but the important thing is that you do something that takes you away from work and allows you to focus on your life. Work/life balance is incredibly important if you want to stay productive, and every successful professional will have made it a priority to ensure that they have one.

Conclusion

This is just one example of what you can do to ensure productivity on any given day. Once again, the important thing is to learn from others, work out your own schedule that works for you, and then stick to it. If you do this, then you can begin to turn that schedule into a habit – something that is simply second nature to you. And once productivity becomes a habit, that’s when you can start really seeing the results!
